Kebbi to send 70 students to Saudi Arabia for degree programmes

The Kebbi state government has finalised processes to send 70 students to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for conventional and religious degree programmes.

The scheme falls under the ‘Kaura Capacity Building Project 2025’ in the Office of the Special Adviser on Religious Affairs to the governor.

At a news briefing Monday, the special adviser, Imran bn Usman, said 20 of the local government areas in the state would provide three students each, while Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, has been allotted 10 placements.

“Kebbi state government will shoulder the cost of their travel to Saudi Arabia, but on arrival, the Saudi government would take responsibility for their studies and welfare.

“Saudi authorities have set conditions for admission of students who must not be over 18 years of age and examined academically to conform with requisite standard.

“Saudi professional examiners are already in Kebbi for the exercise prelude to departure of the students.

“Each local government area will forward the names of two males and one female, who will study first degree programmes either in conventional faculties or religious knowledge,” the adviser stated.

Imran further announced plans to send Imams of Jumu’a Mosques outside the country for short term courses to receive induction in sermon delivery and Hadith, to prepare them to make the desired impact on worshippers during congregational prayers.
