The Kebbi state government has rescheduled the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, earlier planned for February this year, to 2026.
The chairman of the Festival Committee, who is the deputy governor of the state, Sen. Umar Abubakar Tafida, announced this at a news briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Wednesday.
“After due consultation with the Argungu Emirate Council, the government has decided to shift the event to 2026.
“This is necessitated by the need to carry out befitting standard and permanent structures at the venue of the festival.
“In addition, the ongoing road dualisation and other development projects in Argungu township, as well as other peculiar reasons made it necessary to reschedule the event.
“However, Kebbi state government is firmly committed to organising the best fishing and cultural festival, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our people in 2026,” the deputy governor said.
