Katung empowers 500 Southern Kaduna youth, women entrepreneurs

Senator Katung

No fewer than 500 youth and women entrepreneurs across the eight local government areas of Kaduna South Senatorial District have received empowerment items facilitated by Senator Sunday Marshall Katung.

The distribution, held in Zonkwa, Tuesday, provided beneficiaries with refrigerators, generators, and industrial sewing machines to help expand their small businesses and promote self-reliance.

The initiative was made possible through Senator Katung’s collaboration with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM). The event was officially overseen by Simon Arabo, director general of the now-defunct SMK 2023 campaign organisation, who represented the senator.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Katung, Arabo stated that “the programme targeted young people and women already engaged in productive ventures but lacking essential tools for growth.”

He added that the selection process was inclusive and it cut across party lines to ensure fairness.

The senator urged beneficiaries to make good use of the items and to positively impact their communities.

Chairman of the Distribution Committee and former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Gideon Lukas Gwani, praised Senator Katung for prioritising youth and women empowerment through a transparent, non-partisan process that ensured genuine entrepreneurs benefitted regardless of political affiliation.
