Katsina spends N1.2bn on hospital equipment 

Katsina state Commissioner of Health, Engr Nuhu Yakubu Danja, said the state government has spent the sum of N1.2 billion on the provision of health care equipment. 

Danja, who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Katsina, said some of the equipment had arrived while others were yet on the way.

He noted that as part of efforts in reaching the universal health care target, the government has initiated reforms in the sector.

The commissioner noted the initiation of some health care agencies in the state, which he said include drugs management agency, Katsina contributory health management agency among others.

Danja said the government has also renovated hospitals building and equipments in some hospitals across the state.

According to him, some of the hospitals that benefited from this include general hospitals in Funtua, Katsina, Dutsin-ma, Daura, Kankia, Malumfashi, Baure and Musawa.

Similarly, Danja stated that no fewer than 1500 health personnel were recruited for the general hospitals while 500 were recruited for the primary health care centres across the 34 local government areas of the state.

He thus appreciated the efforts of the state governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari for his many contributions in uplifting the state health care sector.
