Deputy governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu, has pledged that the state government would strengthened the 19 existing Tsangaya Islamic schools located in the former seven local governments of the state.Yakubu made the pledge while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2015 Qur’anic recitation competition held at the Sir Usman
Nagogo College of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Katsina.
He, similarly, noted that the government had constructed new Tsangaya schools in Matazu, Rijiyar Tsamiya, Dankama, Kusada and Safana as well as the completion of the new Tahfeez College in Katsina.
Yakubu observed that the annual Qur’anic recitation competition encourages Muslims youths the world over to attained an appreciable perfection in reading, reciting and committing to memory the whole of the holy Qur’an.
He added that the competition also focuses towards forging Unity, understanding, respect for one another as well as he said improves the spirit both Islamic brotherhood as enjoined by Allah (SWT) In a remark, the director of the state Islamic bureau, organisers of the competition, Alhaji Usman Imam thanked the state government for
releasing the sum of N10 million for the organizers of the competition.
He added that each of the 34 local governments of the state got N160, 000 for preparations while Daura zone was given N540, 000, Funtua zone N494, 000 and N495, 000 for Katsina zone.
Meanwhile, parishioners of Assumption Catholic Church have continued to sustain intensive spiritual exercise of prayers for God to protect the victims and grant them unconditional release from the den of the kidnappers.
Two prayers sessions were held yesterday after the usual Sunday masses. The first session which began by 2pm involved all women in the church while the second which began by 4.30pm involved all the parishioners.
