The National Rescue Movement (NRM) Katsina State chapter governorship candidate, Surveyor Abubakar Halilu Jikamshi, says the state is in dire need of focused and purposeful leaders to drive its development process.
The candidate said this basically is the reason he has chosen to run for governorship, adding that if given the mandate he would work in conjunction with dynamic well-meaning persons to improve the socio-economic condition of the people, restore Katsina to its pride of place in education and agriculture.
According to the former Vice President of the Nigeria Institute of Surveyors, Katsina State has suffered dearth of focused leadership which has ultimately led to stagnation in various sectors of the economy.
The NRM governorship candidate alleged that the present APC government in the state has failed to meet the aspiration of the people in terms of creation, and provision of basic infrastructures.
He regretted that lack of focused leadership has had adverse effect in its development strides particularly in education where it has lost its grounds as leader in the Northern, stressing that after wide consulted with various political interests across the state he has developed a blueprint that would facilitate rapid development of the state.
Under his administration if voted for, Jikamshi said the prevalence of youths unemployment and embarrassing indulgence in drugs addiction would be brought under control.
The former FCDA director noted that Katsina had a lot of potentials in agriculture, mining, tourism, education and engineering, among others, stressing that these untapped potentials would be harness under the NRM visionary leadership.
He promised to focus on education that develops creative minds, solid minerals and thus youth workforce that is equipped to harness Katsina’s vast resources.
