Katsina: ITF trains 100 youth on self-reliance skills

The Katsina state branch of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has successfully trained 100 youths on five different trades for self-reliance skills.

The Area Manager Katsina ITF office, Alhaji Dauda Lawal,  at the graduation ceremony on Thursday said all the beneficiaries were given  start -up packs under the National Economic Recovery Growth programme.

According to him, all the beneficiaries were Katsina indigenes trained on plumbing, tailoring, catering , farm production and domestic electrical appliances.

Lawal said 15 ladies were trained on tailoring, 15 youth on plumbing, 20 on domestic electrical, 20 on farm production and 30 on poultry, respectively.

He said the federal government has launched numerous skills intervention programmes aimed at reducing unemployment and poverty, promoting entrepreneurship, mitigating youth restiveness and diversifying the economy in line with the federal government policies.

He said skills acquisition is the most sustainable solution to unemployment, poverty, saying it became imperative to encourage human capital development since despite numerous vacancies across various sectors our youth face unemployment leading to increased crime and social vices.

Lawal said the ITF requires a new focus to align with the goals of the Tinubu administration as a catalyst for national growth by expanding the impact both locally and internationally.

He said such targeted efforts will foster a workforce proficient in the crafts and adaptable to industry demands, urging the beneficiaries to use the opportunities provided by the training to build a decent living for themselves and their families and become good ambassadors of ITF.
