Kano state government has ordered for the demolition of the personal residence of Sheikh Nasir Mohammed Nasir, the newly turbaned Wazirin Kano, whose coronation had been withdrawn by the Kano Emirate Council.
The order came on the heels of the controversy rocking the investiture which the state government was vehemently opposed to, a backlash that had stampeded the emirate council into succumbing to pressure and finally removed him.
The Kano Urban Planning Development Authority (KNUPDA) said Nasir’s personal residence was marked to be on the hit list of KNUPDA as part of the state government’s efforts to effect road construction in some parts of Kano and its environs.
According to the state government, the demolition of some parts of Nasir’s personal residence and the Mosque attached to it was not borne out of a desire to victimise him in the wake of the impasse that led to the withdrawal of his appointment; rather it was a routine work being carried out.
Our correspondent learnt, on good authority, that the Nasir’s personal residence and the Mosque attached to it had blocked a thoroughfare being used by passers-by in the past.
