Kano pledges to support online media for effective information dissemination

The Kano state government has expressed its commitment to supporting online media organisations in the state to ensure effective information dissemination.

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, stated this during the formal inauguration of the new executive members of the Kano Online Media Chapel, held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, Farm Centre, Kano.

The commissioner noted that this is the first Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to be inaugurated in Kano state, aimed at promoting unity and professionalism, as part of the reforms initiated by the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs.

In a statement issued by Sani Abba Yola, director, Special Duties, Kano state Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs, said  Comrade Waiya stated  that the integrity of Kano state had been at stake for a long time, necessitating the repositioning of the information dissemination process in the state.

He  stated the need for unity among journalists in the state,  adding that unity is one of the greatest strengths required to achieve the desired success.
