Kano commissioner harps on hygiene

As the Eid-el-Kabir festivity is being celebrated across the globe, Muslims have been reminded of the need to ensure that their sacrificial meat is hygienically kept under good condition.

The call was made by the Kano state Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf in his Sallah message issued by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Information Officer of the ministry and made available to journalists on Monday.

The commissioner advised that the meat has to be properly cooked and fried, kept in clean and tidy containers as well and stored where fly and other insects couldn’t get access to contaminate it. He assured that by so doing, the meat would be protected against insects that may cause havoc to the health of individuals.

He urged people to properly dispose of the animals’ faeces after slaughter in designated places and that the place be washed thoroughly with enough water and detergent so that the stained-blood and odour get nowhere to stay.

Dr. Labaran stated that people should avoid consuming excessive and hot meat as it may harm the stomach, adding that any sign of ailment should henceforth be reported to the nearest health facility for medical attention.

The commissioner noted with satisfaction the excellent performance of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in one year despite distractions and obstacles encountered.

He said the governor developed a strong heart and continued with people oriented projects and programmes which is an indication of him being a true democrat prepared to shoulder the task.

He said:  “The leadership style of His Excellency is superb. He is turning affairs of the state around. Without contradiction, our governor is fulfilling his campaign promises. With all sense of humility, we are moving around with full courage that Governor Yusuf is delivering.

“On behalf of my family, the ministry and its agencies, I wish to extend my warmest Sallah felicitations to His Excellency, Alhaji Yusuf, his family, members of the State Executive Council, leadership of our great party, the NNPP, the NNPP leadership of Gwale local government and the entire people of Kano state of the tranquil Sallah jollities.

“I wish to also humbly extend the same to our mentor, the national leader of the NNPP, and the grand leader of Kwankwasiyya movement, His Excellency, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.  We pray Allah accepts all our sacrificial obligations as an act of worship.”
