Kaduna: Tricycle owners get new leaders

The Tricycle Owner’s Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Kaduna state, Saturday, inaugurated 15 chairmen and their executive to run its affairs in various units for the next four years.

The deputy route commander, Assistant Public Education Officer of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Kaduna, Usman Garba, who spoke shortly after the inauguration/swearing-in ceremony commended TOAN, and said the move was a welcome development for the association.

He said the corp was happy because with the new excos on board, as they will solve lot of problems associated with tricycle riders (Keke Napep) in the dtate.

According to him, the corp will now work in synergy with the association for training their members on road usage as well as give them public education from time to time so they know how to use public roads.

Earlier in his address, the state chairman of TOAN, Comrade Jacob Ayuka, explained that with strong grassroots presence and growing national recognition, the association has continued to advocate for better policies, empower its members, and contribute to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.

Comrade Ayuka added that TOAN operates as a structured, non-profit association that seeks to empower its members through advocacy, welfare initiatives, operational support, and collaboration with relevant government agencies and transport bodies.

The 15 units and their officials were inaugurated after an election, and their certificates of return were presented to them.

The officials include: Wusili, Comrade James Ibrahim Yakubu; Unguwan Mu’azu, Comrade Mustapha Aliyu; Urban Shelter, Comrade Shehu Lawal; Sabo Market, Comrade Emmanuel Okiki John; Comrade Jacob Ayuka, Rain Oil.

Others include: Old Police Station, Comrade Paul Dogo; Narayi Junction, Comrade Tanimu Mohammed; KASU, Comrade Sani Adam; Kongo, Zaria, Aminu Ibrahima.

While, the Jan-Ruwa unit has Comrade Patrick A. Sanda as its chairman; Hayin Mal Bello, Comrade Abubakar Ilyasu; FCE, Zaria – Comrade Isyaka Baba Tanko; Charity, Comrade Jatau Ango Manga; Bakin-Ruwa, Comrade Mahadi Lawan; and AP Maraban Rido, Comrade Livinus Solomon.
