The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, arrested six suspects, and recovered four rifles, including fabricated AK-47s in separate anti-kidnapping operations carried out in Jema’a local government area and Kaduna metropolis.
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the arrests followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Ungwan Ninzom, Jagindi Tasha village, who reported that unknown gunmen had abducted his son, Hussaini Ibrahim, from his home.
Acting swiftly, operatives from the Kafanchan Divisional Headquarters mobilised to the scene and began pursuit of the suspects.
Though suspects initially escaped, a follow-up operation led to the successful rescue of the victim on February 24 from a nearby bush where he was found with a gunshot wound to the leg.
According to the PPRO, four suspects were subsequently arrested in connection with the abduction, nam, ely, Umar Yusuf Jabiri, 30, from Jagindi Tasha; Buhari Muhammad, also known as “General,” aged 31, from Bayya village; Ahmadu Nasiru, 51, from Gidan Waya and; Zakari Saleh, 50, also of Gidan Waya.
He added that investigation is ongoing to arrest other accomplices, after which all suspects will be prosecuted.
In another operation conducted on July 23, 2025, at about 6:00p.m., the PPRO said detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted a suspicious waybill at a transport hub in Kaduna.
The consignment, which originated from Jos and was en route to Gusau in Zamfara state, contained a fabricated AK-47 rifle concealed inside a sack.
The operatives traced the delivery and arrested two suspects – Abdulmumin Sani and Naziru Musa – upon their arrival in Gusau to receive the firearm.
The police said the suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
