To enhance educational development in the state, the Kaduna state governor, Senator Uba Sani, Tuesday, facilitated the organisation of a capacity-building workshop for principals of public secondary schools, starting with zone 3.
The two-day workshop, held in Kafanchan was conducted by the Ministry of Education through the Teachers Service Board in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
With the theme: “Enhancing Leadership and Administrative Capacity of School Principals in Public Secondary Schools in Kaduna state”, the chairman of the state Teachers Service Board, Alhaji Adamu Makadi, stated that the workshop aims to equip principals with the skill necessary to effectively manage their schools.
Makadi added that the training was designed to update principals with the latest knowledge and expertise in school management. He said routine visits and on-the-spot assessments would be conducted to ensure that the lessons learned during the workshop are applied for more efficient school management.
It was against this backdrop that he commended the governor of Kaduna state, Senator USani for his provision of innovations geared towards bringing quality education to all nooks and crannies of the state.
The project coordinator of AGILE, Maryam Sani Dangaji, stated the importance of system strengthening, adding that many inadequacies had been observed in school management, which prompted the decision to hold the workshop to support the state government’s efforts to revamp secondary education.
She also commended the executive governor of Kaduna state on his support for educational development in the state.
Professor Mohammed Muftahu, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Kaduna State University (KASU), presented the lead paper, focusing on key topics such as sustainable leadership practices, professional standards for school leaders, teacher performance management, and compliance with civil service rules.
