In order to improve primary healthcare delivery in Zaria local government area of Kaduna state, it has distributed assorted drugs to 52 primary health centres to improve the health of the people.
Flagging off the exercise at Durmin Mai Garke Primary Health Centre yesterday, the Council’s Chairman, Engr. Abubakar Buba Maude, said the Council with full support of the state government was committed to improve wellbeing of the people through adequate provision of healthcare.
He said the Council would not fold its arms when people in the area had serious medical challenges.
He warned that any medical personnel found extorting members of the public would not be spared.
“We calling on the people to go to the nearest primary health centre whenever they sick where they will be examined and given drug free of charge.
“All our clinics are and will remain open 24 hours to attend to patients,” he said.
Maude called traditional community leaders to assist in monitoring the distribution of the drugs at clinics levels.
Earlier, the Director, Primary health care of the Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Bamaco, assured the LG boss of accountability in the distribution of the drugs to members of the public.
He said his staff were sincere and that “none will be found wanton because discipline they have.”
