A group of concerned members and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna state have raised alarm over what they described as a plot to weaken and divide the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kaduna, leader of the group, Hon. Adamu Dattijo, alleged that certain individuals, including former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i, Ja’afaru Sani, and Bashir Sa’idu, were working to destabilise the party.

He accused the former governor of refusing to recognise the duly elected Kaduna State ADC Executive Committee as well as other respected stakeholders of the party.

Dattijo further faulted alleged plans by El-Rufa’i and his allies to organise what they termed the official inauguration of the transition of the Coalition across political parties in Kaduna State, describing the move as “fraudulent, illegitimate, and dead on arrival.”

According to him, the planned inauguration does not involve the authentic ADC leadership and stakeholders from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

The group therefore called on the national leadership of the ADC to intervene urgently and safeguard the unity of the party in Kaduna.

“We are urging Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i and his co-travellers to stop their reckless behaviour and respect the Kaduna ADC structures and leadership,” Dattijo said.

The stakeholders stressed that the ADC in Kaduna State belongs to all its members and not just a few individuals, warning that failure to act quickly could worsen the crisis.
