Jonathan visits Oba of Benin, advocates functional education 

Ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Thursday advocated functional education for the citizenry, adding that it is key for evolving moral change in the society.

To this end, the ex-president said he has continually used his Goodluck Ebele Jonathan foundation to deepen education and good governance for a better society.

He  stated this when he visited Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin in his palace in Edo state.

Jonathan said he was in the state for his foundation’s democracy dialogue program scheduled for Thursday and sought the royal father’s blessings and prayers.

He  added that  x-presidents of Benin, Kenyan and Nemadi Sambo would speak at the dialogue which has as its theme:  “functional education and effective leadership.”

The Benin monarch who offered prayers for the ex-president said: “The idea of holding the dialogue in Benin City is an indication of your personal recognition of Benin as home of Africa.”

Oba Ewuare II, said: “We are all on the same page on the theme (education) of the program. We pray you have a condusive environment to discuss.”
