Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has expressed shock over the demise of an illustrious son of the state, Professor jibril Aminu, who passed away Thursday.
The governor extended his condolences to his family, the entire people of Adamawa state and Nigerians over the irreplaceable loss.
He described the late Professor Aminu as one of Nigeria’s finest minds, devoted public servant and towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape, who served the country honestly and dedicatedly during his life time.
In a condolence message made available to journalists in Yola, signed by his chief press secretary, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, Fintiri said Professor Aminu’s demise is a monumental loss, not only to Adamawa state, and its people but to the entire nation which greatly benefits from his wisdom, scholarship, and decades of patriotic service in various capacities.
“Professor Aminu served Nigeria with rare distinction in a range of national assignments, including as Minister of Education, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Nigeria Ambassador to the United States, and Senator representing Adamawa Central. In each of these capacities, he embodied dignity, insight and unwavering commitments to national development,” he said.
The governor said his death has left a vacuum which will be very difficult to fill as Nigeria has lost one of its finest minds.
He described him as a devoted public servant and a distinguished son of Adamawa state, who was a rare breed of patriots and silent reformer whose legacy spans education, diplomacy and politics.
The governor further prayed that Allah should forgive his short-coming and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatu Fildausi as he extended his condolences to his family, friends, associates, well wishers and Nigerians.
