In light of ongoing global concerns regarding women’s safety, particularly in the wake of alarming statistics of violence against women, Jehovah’s Witnesses are taking a proactive approach to address the issue from a biblical standpoint.
The organisation in a statement issued on Monday, said despite legislative efforts by various governments to protect women, nearly one in three women worldwide still experience physical or verbal abuse in their lifetime, according to the World Health Organisation.
It added that the COVID-19 pandemic had exacerbated the crisis, and highlighted the urgent need for intervention and support.
To this end, Jehovah’s Witnesses announced the launching of a new initiative titled “Women’s Safety—The Bible’s Perspective.”
The initiative, according to the organisation, aims to provide free resources and support to women who have endured violence, offering them healing and comfort through the teachings of the Bible.
Speaking on behalf of Jehovah’s Witnesses, its spokesperson, Afolabi Odeyemi emphasized the significance of addressing women’s safety as a collective responsibility.
