Insurgency:NAF to acquire 2 new helicopters

As part of effort to intensify campaign on the fight against Boko Haram insurgents in the northeast, the Nigeria Air force says it will acquire two sets of new helicopter gun ships to be deployed to Maiduguri and Damaturu International cargo airport when completed.

The chief of air staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, disclosed Thursday when he paid courtesy visit to Governor Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

He said, “the air force will continue do every thing humanly possible to ensure the northeast is secured, assuring that they have over one hundred trained personnel”.

Speaking earlier, governor Buni assured that his government would continue to strengthen synergy by giving information that would bring success to the fight against the boko haram insurgents.
“As you continue the effort to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents, therefore, let me assure you that we would continue to strengthen the synergy, collaboration and exchange of information that are the hallmarks of our relationship with the air force and other security agencies.

“Let me assure you also that no sacrifice is too much to support and cooperate with the security agencies to help you to maintain law and order and ensure the security of life and property of our people,” he said.
