Insurgency: NERI renovates hospital, quarters in Yobe

Yunusari local government council, with support from the North east Regional Initiatives (NERI) has handed over the renovated general hospital, its staff quarters, provided furniture and equipment after its destruction by the Boko Haram insurgents in Kanamma.
Commissioning the projects yesterday at the local government headquarters, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr.
Muhammad Bello Kawuwa, represented by Dr.
Garba Fika, thanked NERI for the job well done, saying government would immediately redeploy staff to provide services to the community.
“It is our responsibility to redeploy appropriate number of staff for its full take-off.
We noted the need for perimeter wall, provision of 1 or 2 boreholes which we will partner with the Ministries of Water Resources and Housing in that respect.
Hospital Management Board will also supply equipments especially to the laboratory and the theatre,” he said.
“We will make sure that the staff to be redeployed imbibe the maintenance culture so as to give the structures and equipment long life span.
They belong to the public and government is the custodian of the people.
Therefore the staff and the community each has a role to play in safe-guarding the hospital and its equipment,” he added.
In his vote of thanks, the local government chairman, Hon.
Yerima Lawan Mahmud, said the efforts by NERI would restore back the lost glory of Kanamma, adding that his administration had embarked on renovation in the local government headquarters.
“Presently, we are constructing shopping complex and guest houses to improve the infrastructure here.
We will continue to partner with NERI in order to benefit from more projects,” he added.
Yerima commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for always giving a listening ear to the plight of his people.
Blueprint gathered, NERI had earlier this year handed over the renovated local government secretariat to government after destruction by the insurgents.
The renovation consists of male and female wards, pharmacy, OPD, offices, supply of 30KVA sound proof generator, air conditioners, TV sets, beds, mattresses, furniture among others.
