The Nigerian public has been urged to always provide credible and actionable information to the police on suspicious activities of persons with questionable characters in their environment.
The need is to further ensure security of lives and property in every part of the country as security agencies alone cannot achieve all that is required to fully protect the nation.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Akure Zone 17, AIG Ajani Omolabi, Thursday, stated this in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital while addressing stakeholders, during a one- day familiarisation visit to the state command.
He urged the stakeholders, comprising religious leaders, transport unions, students unions, artisans as well as market leaders, among others, to partner the police.
He asked the public to always avail the police and other security apparatus, with needed information that would particularly help in nibbling crimes and criminality in the bud.
The AIG, who said the stakeholders can use technology to send information to the police, promised to partner with the stakeholders to flush out all the criminal activities in the zone, and ensure that there is peace in states under the jurisdiction.
He also solicited the support of stakeholders in the state to cooperate with the police by not hoarding such information for whatever reason or material gains, which he said, could help in the police investigation of crimes.
He said his doors are always open to accommodating such credible and reliable information.
The AIG used the visit to warn criminals to steer clear of states under his jurisdiction saying nemesis would soon catch up with them if they refused to turn over a new leaf.
“To criminals, my warning to you is that you steer clear, because we will locate you and deal with you, in accordance to the law or if you refuse to change and live by the law,” he said.
