N22.81bn on non-tangible assets
By Benjamin Umuteme Abuja The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, has proposed N22,581,820,958 billion for research and development in the 2018 fiscal year, Blueprint can authoritatively reveal.
This item, according to our findings, is captured in number 23050101. The substantive minister in charge of the ministry is Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah, with Aisha Abubakar as minister of state. Also, the ministry will be spending N22, 816,173,067 billion to acquire non tangible assets captured on code number 230501.
However, the figures are far above the N252 million proposed for general rehabilitation/repairs of fixed assets captured in code number 230030121. According to estimates in the proposed appropriations bill, the ministry’s headquarters alone is expected to get a total allocation of N26,123,072,945 billion with total capital, total recurrent, total personnel and total overhead taking N23,277,809,367 billion, N2,845263,258 billion, N2,122,455,156 billion, and N722,808,422 million respectively.
These are appropriately captured in code number 0222001001. Continuing the trend, the ministry will expand N177, 488,800 million for general purchase of fixed assets captured on number 230101. A breakdown of that amount shows purchase of buses, computers and industrial equipment gulping N100 million, N49 million and N18, 488,800 million respectively.
They are contained in items number 23010108, 23010113, and 23010129 respectively. In addition, cleaning and fumigation services, miscellaneous and sporting activities will take N50million, N77, 014,444 million and N6 million respectively.
Our correspondent also gathered that the ministry also plans to expend N1 billion on enabling business environment, N240 million on development of priority products and N50 million to engage stakeholders on council of industry.
