An Indian passenger caused panic aboard an EasyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow on Sunday after claiming he had a bomb and shouting religious slogans. The man, identified as 41-year-old Abhay Devdas Nayak from Luton, sparked chaos roughly an hour into the flight when he emerged from the restroom yelling Allahu Akbar and anti-American slogans, according to a video circulating online.

Eyewitnesses reported that fellow passengers quickly tackled Nayak to the floor, warning him that families are on this plane, before he was restrained by crew members and travellers. The incident forced the pilot to divert the aircraft, making an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport around 8:20 am.

Police arrested Nayak on arrival. He was later charged at Paisley Sheriff Court with assault and endangering aircraft safety. He did not enter a plea and remains in custody ahead of further court proceedings.

Despite his religious chants and attempt to fake a Muslim identity, authorities have not filed terrorism-related charges. Instead, he is being prosecuted for his dangerous and disruptive actions under aviation safety laws.

One of the main charges involves reckless or negligent behaviour under the UKs Air Navigation Order, which regulates civil aviation safety and outlines strict measures against endangering aircraft or passengers.

EasyJet confirmed in a statement that no explosives were found and that the passengers removal was due to his behaviour during the flight. The disruption coincided with former US President Donald Trumps visit to his Turnberry golf course in Scotland, approximately an hours flight from Glasgow.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and court proceedings are expected to resume next week.  With Agencies Inputs.
