Imo AA denies endorsing PDP candidate Anyanwu

The Action Alliance (AA) Imo state, led by Comrade Ifeanyi Okponwa, has denied endorsing the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11 Imo governorship election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

A press release issued and signed by Okponwa and publicity secretary of the party, Comrade Salvatore Amadi and made available to newsmen weekend  reads: “We deem it highly necessary to educate Imo people on the purported endorsement, which at best qualifies as  a demonstration of brazen madness. We therefore make the following clarifications: That the authentic legally recognised chairman of Imo state AA is Comrade Ifeanyi Okponwa Eze: that the characters who purportedly endorsed Anyanwu, one Anthony Uchendu Ahaneku and his cohorts, are not members of AA: that the candidate of our great party is retired Major General Lincoln Jack Ogunewe, MFR: that our candidate is the most qualified and desired contender worthy of inauguration as Imo state governor on January 15th, 2024, and therefore, there is no reason for any right thinking member of AA to endorse any contender apart from Ogunewe whose intimidating pedigree as former number 2 officer in the Nigerian Army and Defence Adviser to the United Nations stands him out as the best man to reset Imo.

Imo AA was rumoured to have another faction formed when General Ogunewe defected to the party and picked the party’s guber ticket after coming second in the Labour Party primary, thereby displacing the purported holder of the guber ticket.
