I’m under pressure to vie for Senate – Aliyu

Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger state said yesterday that he was under pressure by some leaders in the state to go to the Senate after completing his term in 2015.

He stated that despite the mounting pressure he was yet to accept the offer.
Aliyu spoke when he hosted Turban Communities Chiefs in Minna Emirate Council led by Eze Ndigbo of Minna, Eze Pampers Ngozi Waiwe.
He also said that he had not endorsed any of the two members in his cabinet gunning to succeed him in 2015 but hoped to be succeeded by a member of the cabinet.

The deputy governor, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, and Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Mu’azu Mohammed Bawa, have indicated interest in the governorship race.
Though his body language suggests that he may be gunning for the upper chamber of the National Assembly in 2015, Aliyu however said that he prayed that 2015 will be greater for him than 2007 and 2011.

The leader of the team had earlier commended the transformation programmes and policies of the governor and urged him to continue to initiate and implement people-oriented programmes.
