The Niger state governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Umar Bago, has assured women of 35% affirmative action if elected in 2023 general elections.
Bago gave the assurance at a public talk on women in politics organised by the IBB vision Nigeria for Bago 2023 in Minna on Monday.
He said women will be reciprocated at all strata of his administration, adding that, “deliberate policy for women inclusiveness in our administration will be implemented if elected as governor of the Niger State.”
In a message, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state, represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, said women deserve to be supported in all ramifications.
He said women are the stabiliser of democracy, urging them to vote APC in the next general elections to enhance development.
In his remarks, chairman of the occasion and former vice chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Professor Mohammad Maiturare, stated that in an ideal democracy, everybody is recognised as important components.
He argued that women should be given every opportunity to fully participate in politics to ensure equity, fairness and inclusiveness.
