The Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Suleiman Abba has said categorically that the Nigerian Police Force [NPF] will not leave any stone unturned in its efforts to rid Borno state and country at large of Boko Haram insurgency with the support of government.
He also noted that the new Police Reform programme put in place by the federal government yesterday in Borno State government had donated 40 operations security vehicles to the police force as part of the ongoing police reform programme initiated by the Federal Government to transform the police force for better performance.
The IGP while addressing officers and men of the Borno Police Command during his official visit to the state said, “By the donation, the Borno State government has keyed into the Federal Government Police Reform Program aimed at transforming the police for better performance”.
“I wish to announce that Borno State government has donated 40 vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force from the 1% of the state statutory allocations of the state that should be expended on the police force in each state of the federation. And this is part of the money that will be channeled towards improving accommodation and equipment of the Nigerian Police Force”, Abba said.
He further explained that all states of the federation were expected to allocate one percent of their earnings yearly towards the Police Reform Programme under the project while urging other state governments to emulate the Borno state government gesture by making provisions for the said funds to the police force.
Alhaji Abba had earlier told the police officers and men that his visit to Borno was to identify with the officers and men of the command over their efforts in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency.
