IGP harps on professionalism, competent police force

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has stated the need  for a professionally competent police force in Nigeria.

Egbetokun made this remarks weekend during an official handing over ceremony of the eight-person tents and mobile components, which will provide essential accommodation for over 2,000 police officers.

At the ceremony held at Police College in Lagos, he emphasised that the police had the vision to have a professionally competent police force that will be service-driven, rule-of-law compliant, and people-friendly.

He said: “We want a police force that will be in position to respond adequately and appropriately to the dynamics of crimes in our society.

“This equipment that we are receiving today is coming at a time that is most needed. We are going to deploy the equipment for the training of our special squad.

“The equipment will also help in providing immediate solution to the challenges of accommodation in our training school.

“Now, our training school will have the capacity to train more men and to get more of this Equipment,

“This donation is coming out at the time the force is setting up, especially intervention force with the aim  of stamping out violent crime in Nigeria.”
