The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Thursday, engaged in crucial meetings with two high-powered delegations: the Senate Committee on Crude Oil Theft and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
These separate engagements underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s dual focus on combating economic sabotage and upholding human rights.
IGP Egbetokun received the delegation from the Senate Committee on Crude Oil Theft, led by its chairman, Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The meeting was part of strategic moves to discuss and implement measures to curb onshore and offshore oil theft, which significantly impacts Nigeria’s oil production targets.
Senator Nwoko stated that the committee’s mandate to end crude oil theft cannot be achieved without robust collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, which he described as critical to the national effort.
In response, the IGP expressed profound appreciation for the committee’s commitment to addressing this vital national issue. He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to combating crude oil theft, protecting critical national infrastructure, and ensuring perpetrators are brought to justice.
