Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ocean Marine Solutions Limited Captain Idahosa Wells Okunbo, Saturday dedicated the prestigious Forbes Best of Africa award to the less privileged and the teeming unemployed youths in Nigeria.
The Edo-born philanthropist, billionaire and industrialist was singled out for the award due to his outstanding effort and hardwork in connecting Africa with the World.
Okunbo, who spoke shortly after the award presentation that took place at the magnificent five star Wells Carlton hotels and Apartment, Abuja, said he was humble by the award.
“I am indeed very delighted to have this award from this institution. Like I said earlier, I only accept award that are truly awards. I am dedicating this award to the less previleged in our society and the teeming jobless youths. I am really humbled by this,” he said.
Presenting the certificate of award from Forbes America, the Chairman, Foreign Investment Network, (FIN), Mrs Olayinka Fayomi, described Captain Idahosa as an illustrious son of Edo state who have continued to make the country proud in all his life pursuit.
She said, “I am here to present this certificate from Forbes America. I always like to distinguish Forbes Africa from Forbes America. We are so pleased on behalf of Forbes to present to you Dr Idahosa Wells Okunbo. Indeed, you are more than deserving of this award.
“I am sure all of you have watched the event today, you can hear the testimony of the former minister of Industries and all the Dubai guys. They have all heard your name. I am happy about the success you have made. You are an illustrious son of Edo state. You have made not only your state proud but the entire Country. Iam happy that Mr President also acknowledge this award.”
Captain Idahosa whose range of investment span from marine and security, real estate, hospitality, aviation, power, sgriculture and telecom is also a proud recipient of numerous awards amongst are Justice of the Peace (JP) and honorary doctorate degree from the University of Benin.
Others awards include the African Titan Award by the America Congress, Vanguard Business man of the year award 2015, the order of Lafayette 2019 and the anit-human-trafficking hero award.
The Forbes best of Africa award recognises global and continental leaders.
