The Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies (ICSS), Tuesday, said it will partner with all security agencies across the country to combat the ongoing security challenges.
The ICSS at a media briefing in Abuja, said security challenges could not be left for the security agencies alone as they require citizens to give the agencies a better leverage in addressing the menace.
Speaking at the briefing, coordinator of the institute, Dr Oyewole Oshinaike, called for more security personnel to be recruited so as to boost the number of operatives policing the nation.
Oshinaike also promised to come up with solution-based recommendations on how to address the security challenges. He said the institute is not only to address insecurity on the surface but the root cause of it.
“That is why the institute has decided to make themselves public and bring the whole idea by joining hands with the government to move the country forward,” he said.
The coordinator further said the issue of insecurity has become a general one and everyone must put their hands on the deck to address it, which is why the institute is out to partner with the government.
A member of the governing council of the institute, Elder Joseph Wayas, also said crime is the biggest challenge that Nigeria is facing after corruption and it must be tackled head on.
Wayas said it is no longer the business of the government alone but for all to put their hands on the deck to support the government and security agencies.
