Unknown gunmen suspected to be members of Eastern Security Network (ESN), Saturday evening attacked motorists along Opi- Makurdi Road.
The daredevils attacked two vehicles near Total Filling Station in Orba, Udenu local government area.
The traditional ruler of Amala community, Udenu, Igwe Patrick Eze, aka Waziri’s vehicle was attacked but he managed to escape before the vehicle burst in flames.
A Hilux van belonging to road safety officials was also ignited.
A video circulating online shows that two men were killed during the attack, comprising a road safety official and one other person.
The voice in the video was heard lamenting the dastardly act.
“See what is happening here at Orba by the Total Filling Station. Unknown gun men attacked the traditional ruler of Amala, Igwe Waziri. One person was killed but Waziri escaped. A road safety officer was also killed,” a man said.
A red car and the Federal Road Safety Corps official’s vehicles were seen being consumed by fire.
The video voice did not state how the incident began but showed when the red car went up in flames and the road safety officers van was already burning.
Police was yet to comment on the development at the time of filing this report. The police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, did not respond to his WhatsApp message.
