Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, have abducted an inspector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) identified as Nathaniel Terwanger Kumashe at home in Benue state.
Confirming the incidence to newsmen on phone in Makurdi on Thursday, an uncle to the victim Chief Yimam Aboh who served as Special Adviser on Transportation to former Benue state governor, said the incidence took place on Wednesday night March 19, 2025 at about 10pm.
Blueprint correspondent learnt that the kidnappers who were well armed first fired gunshots sporadically in the air to scare family members and neighbours of the victim before abducting him from his country home at Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor in Tarka local government area of the state.
It was further learnt that the victim returned to his house from the wake-keep of his late cousin who is to be buried Friday.
“Youths in the entire community immediately launched a search throughout the night but the gunmen were fast gone.
“Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC joined in the search operation and the police have visited the community after the incident but there was no trace of the kidnappers,” the uncle noted.
Reports however, indicate that he might have been moved to one of the kidnappers’ hideouts in neighbouring Guma LGA of the state.
The Public Relations Officer of FRSC in the state, Ngozi Ahula, said the matter has been reported to the police.
Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Sewuese Anene, said she was not aware of the incident yet, while directing inquiries to FRSC.
