Gunmen abduct seminarians, kill NSCDC officer in Edo  

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted three students of Catholic Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary at Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, in Etsako East local government area of Edo state.

The gunmen were said to have also killed a Civil Defense Corps officer during the attack.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:00pm on Thursday night.

The Directorate, Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Auchi, Rev. Fr.  Peter Egielewa, who confirmed the incident, said “this will be the second time in 10 months the school has been attacked.”

He condemned the incident and decried what he described as the “incessant attacks on the Catholic school, personnel and its facility.”

The Rev. Fr. added that “a civil defense corps was killed and three seminarians were abducted, while a local vigilante sustained gunshot injuries.”

He called on the government to protect the lives of all those who “work in Catholic institutions and the Diocese.”
