A book, Master Guide To Food Safety (Food Poisoning and Prevention), will, on November 10, be presented to the public at the Arcade Suite, Shehu Shagari Way, Abuja.
The author, Mr. Chris Okiroro (a food specialist), said the book would serve as a guide to both food handlers, processing and consumers with adequate knowledge of preventing diseases usually associated with food, caused by bacterial.
The book, according to him, will educate Nigerians that our food is good but the way they are handled endangers the health of the people which calls for attitudinal change to address it.
He stressed that the book “is out for a war against bacterial infection on food.”
Outlining steps towards ensuring food safety, the food specialist said washing of hands while preparing and eating food is very important, followed by strict adherence to the rules and regulations of food preparation for both private and public places like hotels, eateries, parks and food processing industries.
He also said he would also embark on public lecture for food vendors at the grassroots, organise workshops for food handlers and publication of mini-book on food safety, which every food handler must have to ensure compliance of rules and regulations on food safety.
