Guards Brigade celebrates Buhari at 80

As part of activities to mark President Muhammadu Buhari’s 80th Birthday, the Commander Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig Gen Mohammed Takuti Usman along side some of his senior staff officers paid a special visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House Abuja.

The visit according to the Commander was to congratulate the Commander -In- Chief as he clocks 80 years of age and to further wish him many more years of celebration in good health.

Brig Gen Usman further used the opportunity to appreciate Buhari for providing the Brigade with the requisite platforms needed to secure the Federal Capital and its environs which he affirmed has gone along way towards ensuring the security of parts of Niger,Kogi, Kaduna and Nasarawa which are neighbouring states to the Federal Capital Territory.

Responding, President Muhammadu Buhari thanked the Commander Guards Brigade and his team for their service, sacrifice as well as dedication and further reminded them of the tenates of military service which he noted requires self sacrifice and commitment.

He added that he was grateful to God almighty for keeping him so far since he became the President stressing that the Armed Forces had lived up to expectations in addressing the several security challenges.

He assured all present and Nigerian that he remains committed to the service of the father land to continue to serve the nation.

President Buhari equally used the event to congratulate the Commander Guards Brigade and other senior officers of the Nigerian Army who benefited from the recent Brigadier to Major General promotion released by the Army Council under his watch among which the Commander Guards Brigade benefited.

Climax of the visit was the presentation of gift items to the president and group photograph.
