The World Assembly of Youth (WAY) has expressed worries and discomfort in the development in Niger Republic, West African sub-region and Africa as a whole.

The group lauded what it called the prompt decisive actions of the leadership of ECOWAS.

Blueprint reports that the former French colony recently had a forceful change of government through a coup detat.

The democratically elected president, Mohammad Bazoum who was ousted by his brigade of guards is currently under hostage.

Consequently, France, Nigeria, ECOWAS, the European Union have slammed different economic sanctions on Niger, calling on the coupists led by Gen. Abourhamane Tchiani to release Bazoum and return the country to civil rule.

Expressing discomfort over the impasse, WAY in a press release titled: Niger Impasse and Hiroshima Day, condemned the take-over of government in Niger, saying it remains a source of discomfort.

Signed by its vice president, Africa, Comrade Preye Ketebu-Brown, the youth assembly said it is  confident in the strong credentials of democracy and the rule of law.
