Governor Abdullahi Alhaji Sule of Nasarawa state, Monday said he will re- invigorate the state civil service for effective service delivery.
The governor stated this while inaugurating the 12 man committee responsible for the restructuring of the state public service at government house Lafia.
He explained that his administration was committed towards reinvigorating the public service and will accordingly give priority attention to the welfare of the civil servants in the state.
Sule explained that appropriate measures would be put in place to reward competent and hardworking officers who excel in the performance of their duties, and will equally sanction any staff that violates the public service rules and regulations.
“Government viewed the current structure of government machinery to be unwieldy, duplicative and the least not cost effective. Accordingly government decided to device a means of reducing the cost of governance, increased efficiency and maximize manpower utilization ” Sule said.
He however maintained that civil servants will be exposed to rigorous courses, seminars and workshops in order to sharpen their knowledge and experience for enhanced performance and productivity.
The committee is to be guided by six terms of reference, which to determine the current number of government ministries, department and agencies as well as government owned companies in the state, and advice government appropriately among others.” You have four weeks to submit the report” Sule added.
Responding, the chairman of the committee Mr, Silas Daku, said his member were ready to justify the confidence of the assignment reposed on them.
