I humbly write to plead with Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of Bauchi state to the aforementioned subject matter. Sir, since the birth of the local government elections in Katagum local government area and the caretaker chairmen that were appointed, there has been no more sound and committed chairman than the recent caretaker, Malam Musa Azare.

Upon the appointment of Musa Azare as caretaker chairman, Katagum local government area, several jobless and criminal youth have been taken off the streets, creating an avenue for them to have been given cash to kick-start small-scale businesses for them to become self-reliant. Before the appointment of Azare, there were reported cases of criminalities masterminded by the jobless and drug abusers in Azare as a result of doing nothing to cater for their basic needs so that it would keep them busy to be engaged in such bad acts.

Those terrorising the town in the past would now be seen in their various business stalls dotting Azare town. At least, he reduced the number of joblessness, which no such development brought by any chairman of Katagum local government area produces. He sets aside humongous amounts of funds every month solely for the reduction of political hooliganism by our jobless youth, providing N50,000 to selected recipients to start businesses of their choice.

One more good thing about him is that he has developed the habit of patrolling the town junction-by-junction—suspected junctions of bad acts, specifically to ensure everyone is home by cautioning them about the bad acts they have been doing. By so doing, some fortunate beneficiaries would be picked and be among those to be supported with cash to start a business and avoid roaming the street at midnight. Each youth is asked by Malam Azare proposes a business he feels he can do to help himself and be off the streets.

Regarding the primary healthcare centers that are under the care of the Katagum local government area, Malam Musa monitors them at midnight to observe if there is any sort of negative deviation or absence of the in-charge and other staff of the visited center. In addition, Malam Musa caught more than three in-charge absentees while he visited their centers at midnight, and decisive action was taken against them.

In a nutshell, I would like to humbly request our listening and development oriented governor to look into the possibility of having Malam Musa Azare’s retained for the people of Katagum local government area. This is because dedicated individuals like him are needed by our community, but if he is allowed to go somewhere else, on the expiration of his tenure, the benefits will go away along with him. And I want to assure Governor Bala AbdulKadir Mohammed that this is the popular opinion of the good people of Katagum regardless of party affiliation.
