A governorship aspirant in Bauchi under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Capt Bala Jibrin has alleged that the incumbent ,Governor Mohammed Abubakar had received over N500 billion as state and local government grants from the federal government in the last three years ‘without commensurate projects’.
Speaking on Saturday at Misau local government of the state while commissioning his campaign office and vehicles in the area, the former commissioner lamented that the present administration in the state had performed below expectation, compared to what the successive governments were able to do in the state.
He condemned Abubakar for his reported frequent travels abroad, decrying that huge resources ‘that would have been invested in tangible projects’ were being spent by the governor on such journeys.
“If given the mandate, I will not be globetrotting anyhow because I travelled to over 60 countries.
I don’t have thirst for that now.
Instead, I will remain in the state and focus on how to move the state forward,” he said.
Also speaking, a chieftain of the APC and former chairman of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), Alhaji Shehu Sani alias ‘Sanin Malam’ claimed that Yobe, Jigawa, Gombe and other states that were created later than Bauchi ‘are now doing better than the state due to poor governance’.
He therefore urged voters to change Governor Mohammed Abubakar in 2019 even as he revealed that other governorship aspirants under the APC had signed pact to step down for the most accepted contender among them in order to defeat the incumbent governor in the upcoming party primary election.
