Renowned Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has strongly denied allegations of misconduct during a recent incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had earlier accused the music legend of breaching aviation protocols during the boarding of a ValueJet flight on August 5, 2025. The incident has since sparked widespread public interest and prompted an investigation by FAAN.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, Kwam 1 described the allegations as false, exaggerated, and misleading. He insisted he did not act inappropriately and was, in fact, the victim of an unnecessarily escalated situation.

“Our attention has been drawn to reports alleging that King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) displayed unruly conduct while attempting to board a ValueJet flight. We categorically state that this narrative is not only exaggerated but also misleading,” the statement read.

According to Kwam 1, the substance that drew the attention of airport officials was not alcohol, as widely reported, but plain drinking water served to him in the airport lounge.

“Despite respectfully explaining this to officials, the issue was unnecessarily blown out of proportion,” he added.

The veteran artiste emphasized that he neither obstructed the boarding process nor endangered other passengers. He noted that he is a frequent flier, both within Nigeria and internationally, and is well aware of standard aviation regulations, which he adheres to.

Kwam 1 further revealed that ValueJet’s Chairman and Managing Director personally reached out to apologize and even offered to transport him to Lagos on a private jet — a gesture he declined.

“If there had been any misconduct, such an apology and generous offer would not have been made. Despite repeated persuasion, he respectfully turned down the offer,” the statement added.

He clarified that only he and his personal assistant were directly involved in the matter, and several passengers who witnessed the exchange urged him to remain calm.

On reports suggesting friction with the flight crew, particularly the pilot, Kwam 1 said it was important to note that the pilot’s license has since been suspended, implying that she may now be attempting to deflect blame.

“Given the circumstances, it is no surprise if she tries to shift responsibility. She must now lie to protect herself,” the statement alleged.

Concluding the statement, Kwam 1 appealed to the public and the media to report facts, not assumptions, and to avoid sensationalism.

“Let the truth, not speculation, guide public judgment,” he urged.

Meanwhile, FAAN has commenced an investigation into the incident, which has reignited conversations around celebrity conduct, airport security, and corporate responsibility in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
