Free pre-paid meters for Bwari consumers – AEDC

Bwari office of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has disclosed that consumers within the area would be provided with free pre-paid meters.

The AEDC installer, Engr. Benjamin Benedict, said the scheme was to resolve the issues complaint and provide better services.

For some time, residents had been laying complaints of over billings and low or no power supply, believing that with the free metre arrangement it would settle all the disputes.

Commenting on the development, a female resident, who identified herself as Mama James, in Sabon Gari, said the situation would assist the overbilling.

Meanwhile, those who reside behind APC office – SCC road complained that they had been excluded from the exercise.

A resident, who asked not to be named in print, said “the AEDC officials came to perform their monthly routine of disconnecting wrong connections and disconnecting those who had not paid their bills, they were rounded up and beaten.”

According to him, his neighbours were aggressive because they had not had power for about two months prior to the event.

“So far, work has not begun as regards the installation of the metres, but the assigned officials are engaged in house to house documentation.”
