Foundation partners donor agencies to empower 1000 rural women in Bauchi


As part of efforts geared towards promoting and protecting the rights of Women and Girls in Nigeria, a Bauchi based NGO, Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation (ASHH Foundation) has announced the commencement of a Five Year Empowerment  project in Bauchi state. 


Announcing the commencement of the project in Udubo community of Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Executive Director of the Foundation Mrs. Comfort Attah said the  Five Years project, is focusing  on empowering 1000 women, especially at the rural level, towards  Peace building and Livelihood skills that can enable beneficiaries to be economically active and relevant in leadership and governance. 


Mrs. Attah said the intervention would also focus on exposing 200 women and girls  each year in Dambam and Gamawa LGAs of Bauchi State stressing that, “in the five years period, a total of 1000 women will be targeted to create opportunities through the Village Savings and Loans Activity (VSLA) in order to make them active and relevant in leadership and governance.”


The Executive Director also disclosed that the project, with funding from ActionAid Nigeria through  it’s Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project is being implemented by ASHH Foundation, which is  fully supported by Global Affairs Canada. 


Responding on behalf of the  community, Sarkin  Udubo Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Malami thanked the partners for selecting their communities, pledging their full support in the implementation of project which he described as timely. 


The highlight of the occasion was the official announcement of the grant intervention by the Executive Director of ASHH Foundation amidst cheers from the targeted beneficiaries.
