The Child Right Foundation has donated school uniforms, sandals and socks to 100 pupils at Ungwan Wajen Lalle Primary School, Lafia, Nasarawa state.
Executive Director of the Child Right Foundation, Khadija Abdullahi Adamu, stated this Wednesday, in Lafia.
“I feel highly honoured to be in Lafia, headquarters of Nasarawa state, on an educational support for 100 vulnerable children,” she said.
Adamu who was represented by the deputy director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Nasarawa state Ministry for Women Affairs, Rebecca Adamu, said the foundation being a non-governmental organiSation is focused on the protection of the rights of the child, especially the girl child.
“Available data shows that the rate of girl-child enrolment in schools in Nasarawa state, especially in Nasarawa southern senatorial zone, has continued to decline. It is therefore imperative to stem this decline and arrest the situation before it consumes the girl- child in this area.
She said more arrangements are on top gear to commence a scholarship scheme to promote the enrolment and retention of girls in primary and secondary schools in the state.
