The new leadership of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria (FOSIECON), has said it is focused on deepening electoral integrity, promoting transparency, and enhancing synergy with INEC.
Chairman, Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission and newly elected FOSIECON National Chairman Hon. Mamman Nda Eri stated this at when the group paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

believed that a more coordinated and collaborative relationship between INEC and the SIECs was essential for the consolidation of democracy, particularly at the grassroots level.
According to him, the forum’s “commitment is grounded in the belief that credible local government elections are fundamental to democratic development, and that SIECS, with proper support and alignment, can deliver electoral processes that meet national and international standards”.
The forum, therefore, sought INEC’s continued support and collaboration in the areas of technical assistance to support the deployment of appropriate technology and systems that could improve the conduct of local government elections.
The forum also requested capacity building to enhance the professionalism and operational efficiency of SIEC officials through joint training programs, workshops, and peer learning exchanges.
Other areas included knowledge sharing to foster a platform for the exchange of best practices, research, and innovations in electoral management that would benefit both INEC and SIECS.
He expressed confidence that INEC’s guidance and partnership, with the SIEC would play a stronger role in deepening democratic values and participation at the subnational level.
