Focus Africa series:  Embrace peace, togetherness, Sylva’s wife  urges women

Former first lady of Balyelsa state, Mrs. Alanyingi Uduak Sylva has urged women to embrace peace and togetherness and be shining examples to others.

She spoke Sunday in Abuja while declaring open the Focus Africa Series with the theme; “The Leading and Emerging Women’s Forum, Leading  in Difficult Times.”

She  said if women can come together and exchange ideas among themselves, they will do better and embrace unity of purpose.

She advised women and men representing their communities to sit together and brainstorm to find solution to their problems.

Mrs Sylva was the first lady of Bayelsa state and she later played her role as the wife of the Minister of Petroleum Resources.

She said Focus Africa Series is Africa leading platform featuring women’s views and voices on major economic social issues.  It is also an opportunity to share best practices focus on reducing girls and women vulnerability to violence in all forms, as well as highlight the role of women as agents of peace and development in Africa.

She said the forum is aware of the need to bring together and  act in favour of equal rights as a basis for peace and development in the continent.

She noted that Focus Africa raise women’s voices  and create change.
