Fire guts Singer Market in Kano

Properties worth millions of naira have perished in a fire disaster that gutted the famous Kwanar Singer Market in Kano.
According to an eye witness account, the fire broke out at wee hours of the night, with no one on hand to ascertain what had really caused it.
Our correspondent gathered that, it took men of the state fire service the whole night to put it out, a result of which many warehouses were burnt to ashes.
Speaking to newsmen after assessing the extent of the damage caused by the inferno, the Chairman, Kwanar Singer Market Association, Alhaji Abdulaziz Dalha Musa, said, the gravity of the losses incurred by traders affected by the disaster is too costly to bear, saying government’s intervention is needed to cushion their plight.
