The residence of Blueprint newspapers’ correspondent in Maiduguri, Malam Sadiq Abubakar, was on Tuesday evening gutted by fire.
Although no lives were lost, property worth hundreds of thousands of naira were lost.
According to Abubakar, the inferno, which started around 5 pm on Tuesday evening, burnt down two third of the house before good Samaritans and neighbours, including the Civilian JTF, came to rescue his family.
He said the property lost to the inferno included furniture, electronics, documents, carpets/rugs, mattresses clothes/wears, household items and appliances belonging to the wife and children.
He added that family members escaped with the only dresses they had on.
Abubakar added that members of the family have taken refuge in neighbour’s house pending when he could secure another accommodation.
