FG probes NNPC, NIMASA, NPA for remitting dollar revenues in naira

The federal government has commenced probe of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Nigerian Maritime Administration and safety Agency (MIMASA), the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and other revenue generating agencies for remitting dollar revenues in naira, Governor Ben Ayade  of Cross River state, said yesterday.

Addressing State House correspondents at the end of the monthly National Economic Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, he said: “A brief report on the FGN agencies remitting dollar revenues in naira into the Federation Account was also given by the CBN governor.

He said investigations are on-going. Such agencies include but not limited to NNPC, NIMASA and NPA.”
He said the affected agencies are already undergoing separate probe instituted by the National Economic Council through the Governor Adams Oshiomhole-led ad-hoc committee on remittances by the government agencies into the federation account.

He said the CBN governor also informed members of the National Economic Council that the excess crude account had hit $2.2 billion as at October 15, 2015.
On the provisional loans to states based on collateralisation of the excess crude account, Ayade said the CBN governor also informed them that 27 states had made request for the N10 billion facilities that was being processed.
According to him, the affected states have been advised to complete all the necessary documentations to enable them access the funds.
“It should be recalled at this point in time that not all states have indicated interest on this ECA collateral loan,” he said.
On the refund of expenses incurred by state governments on behalf of the federal government, especially on roads maintenance, the governor said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo assured them that states that had adhered to laid down rules in executing federal government projects would soon be paid.
