The National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSA) has praised Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for his commitment to transparency and good governance.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, NFSA National President, Comrade Choice Uchenna Enebeli, lauded Akume’s track record, highlighting his contributions to accountability and inclusivity throughout his career.
“Senator Akume’s distinguished career, spanning over two decades, is a testament to his unwavering dedication to integrity, transparency, and good governance,” Enebeli said.
She noted that as Governor of Benue state, Akume promoted transparency through policies such as the Benue Advance Plan, aimed at addressing the state’s socio-economic challenges. His administration was recognised for equitable representation in government and the fair distribution of resources.
Since his appointment as SGF by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Akume has continued to champion reforms that prioritise inclusivity and accountability, Enebeli said.
She described his leadership as “people-oriented,” ensuring that governance remains accessible and beneficial to all Nigerians.
“I sincerely appreciate President Tinubu for entrusting Senator Akume with this role, which reflects a commitment to good governance,” she added.
Enebeli further reaffirmed NFSA’s support for policies that uphold transparency and integrity, urging public officials to emulate Akume’s leadership style.
Akume, a former governor and senator representing Benue North West, has been a key figure in Nigerian politics, known for his emphasis on accountability in governance.
